Israeli Startup enters the “Future Mobility Incubator” at the Gläserne Manufaktur in Dresden


Volkswagen supports innovative business ideas for future mobility. A young founder team was selected at the EcoMotion international mobility fair in Tel Aviv, Israel for the startup programme in the Future Mobility incubator at die Gläserne Manufaktur in Dresden: the Make My Day startup was chosen as the victor following a pitch competition. The startup is developing an innovative app, a kind of personal assistant for your car which looks for the optimal route for the driver, the optimised charging for electric vehicles and integrates necessary daily shopping into the route planning. The user will save time and money with Make My Day.

Up in the air – Volkswagen Motorsport breaking new technological ground with the aerodynamics of the I.D. R Pikes Peak


At first glance, it is clear to see that the I.D. R Pikes Peak has been developed for extreme conditions. The aerodynamic aspect of Volkswagen’s first fully-electric racing car is also uncompromisingly designed to tackle the most famous hill climb in the world. “The start line is located at an altitude of almost 2,900 metres, with the finish at 4,300 metres above sea level. The low air pressure up there means that the aerodynamic conditions are different to those at a racetrack on flat land,” explains François-Xavier Demaison, Technical Director at Volkswagen Motorsport and the man responsible for developing the I.D. R Pikes Peak as project manager.

World première at the GTI meeting: the new Golf GTI TCR Concept unveiled at Wörthersee


A new chapter of Golf GTI history has begun: With the world première of the 290 PS strong Golf GTI TCR Concept, Jürgen Stackmann, Volkswagen Board Member for Sales, has unveiled the road version of the racing car of the international TCR series of the same name. The première took place today at the legendary GTI meeting at Reifnitz am Wörthersee, Austria. Jürgen Stackmann: "At the moment, the Golf GTI TCR Concept – an athlete derived from racing sport – is a study. But at the end of the year, we want to make this GTI vision come true."

Fit for the future — training at Volkswagen with iPads, online learning, teamwork and augmented reality


Vocational training at Volkswagen has a firm foundation for the future but will continue to change considerably over the next few years. This is the conclusion of the first “Future Training Forum” for all plants which has now been held in Wolfsburg. The main focus of the conference was on best-practice examples as well as discussions concerning future topics such as digitalization and networking, present and future learning environments, the role of instructors and the new skills of apprentices.

After a very successful year in 2017 and a strong start to the current year, the Volkswagen Group is stepping up the pace of its comprehensive realignment under the leadership of its new CEO, Dr. Herbert Diess. “The Volkswagen Group is in robust shape in both operational and financial terms. Our strategy is gaining traction. We are systematically tackling the major automotive issues of the future. However, the longest part of our journey still lies ahead. The crucial years in our transformation have yet to come,” Diess said at the Annual General Meeting of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft in Berlin. As the speed of change in the auto industry continues to accelerate, the Volkswagen Group’s realignment based on Strategy 2025 must gather even greater momentum, Diess added.

Volkswagen presents progressive hybrid, natural gas and diesel systems at the Vienna Motor Symposium

Volkswagen to offer electrified versions of its models


Volkswagen is to launch an electric version of its globally best-selling vehicle – the Volkswagen Golf, offering a sustainable, efficient and powerful alternative. The introduction of innovative, new hybrid systems in the eighth generation of Golf vehicles marks a new era for the brand with regard to drive technology. In the future, Volkswagen will gradually electrify almost every vehicle in its range of models.

Volkswagen Group soon to have autonomous parking ready for series vehicles


Using what is to date unique technology, the Volkswagen Group is currently testing autonomous parking at Hamburg Airport: based on a car park map the Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche vehicles navigate their way to a parking space on their own. Orientation is provided for them by simple pictorial markers installed in the multi-storey car park. Its advantage: this can be used in essentially any car park. The function is set to be available for the first customers in selected multi-storey car parks from the start of the next decade.

Volkswagen sets delivery record in first quarter of 2018


With more than 1.5 million vehicles delivered to customers in the first quarter of 2018, the Volkswagen brand recorded the best firstquarter delivery results in its history. Worldwide deliveries in March 2018 totaled 584,700, another new record and an increase of 4.9 percent compared with the prior-year figure for the same month.

Double premiere in New York: Volkswagen presents the Atlas Cross Sport and Atlas Tanoak concept cars


Volkswagen is igniting the next stage of its global SUV campaign. After recently presenting the new Touareg in China, Volkswagen is now presenting – at the New York International Auto Show (March 28 to April 08) – two new versions of the Atlas developed for the USA: the Atlas Cross Sport and the Atlas Tanoak. New Polo for driving thrills: The Volkswagen Polo R Supercar

Volkswagen Group deliveries grow 10.1 percent in January


The Volkswagen Group handed over 898,700 new vehicles to customers worldwide in the first month of this year. “The Volkswagen Group brands made an excellent start to 2018. There was significant growth in all regions. Overall, worldwide deliveries by the Group grew 10.1 percent in January. That is the best start to the year in the history of the Volkswagen Group”, Fred Kappler, Head of Sales at Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft said, commenting on the January figures.

Volkswagen Group assumes pioneering role in rapid road safety improvement


From 2019 onwards, the brands of the Volkswagen Group are to use the WLANp standard, which has already been comprehensively tested, for communications among vehicles and between vehicles and their environment. In January 2018, the Volkswagen brand handed 533,500 vehicles over to customers throughout the world. Deliveries were therefore 7.1 percent above the figure for the corresponding month of the previous year.
