Beetle Cabriolet

The Beetle Cabriolet

Design

Exterior

Moving with the times.

No matter where the Beetle Cabriolet goes, its striking appearance always attracts admiring glances. This is due primarily to the look of the front and rear bumpers. The combined parking, brake, turn signal and tail light with dark tinted cover is a unique feature at the rear, as is the optional rear spoiler. The Beetle Cabriolet R-Line also has a rear diffuser for improved aerodynamics. And finally a broad range of colours, with optional shades like Bottle Green Metallic or White Silver Metallic, ensure that every appearance is an impressive one.

Seats

Stylish seating.

Seating comfort plays a key role in the Beetle Cabriolet, which is why height-adjustable comfort seats are part and parcel of the standard equipment. The optional sports seats give you the option of adding some sporty style and improved support to the front seats. The standard fabric covers are a special detail of the seats in the Beetle Cabriolet, as each specification line comes with its own design - "Web" for the Beetle Cabriolet, "Pepita" for the Beetle Cabriolet Design, and "Check" for the Beetle Cabriolet R-Line. You also have a choice of different fabric colours or sophisticated "Vienna" leather versions, depending on the specification variant.

Convertible roof

Your own personal sense of freedom.

Are you ready for that open-top feeling? Then simply press the button for the convertible top located in the windscreen frame of your Beetle Cabriolet. At speeds of up to 50 km/h it takes just 9.5 seconds for the convertible top to fold back and enable you to enjoy that airy, open-top feeling. If the weather takes a turn for the worst, you can be protected by the trendy fabric cover again in just 11 seconds. And for a more personalised look, choose from standard Black or Nutria Beige convertible top colours.

Wheels

Wheels to suit all tastes.

The Beetle Cabriolet comes with 16 inch steel wheels as standard. Meanwhile, the range of optional wheels has plenty in store for retro fans and drivers who appreciate design. Individualists will be pleased to learn that some of the wheel designs are reserved exclusively for the Beetle models - including the 17 inch Circle rim. The rim with central chrome cover, which is a throwback to the original Beetle, is available in three versions - Black, White and Red. The 10-spoke "Philadelphia" rim is also available in a 17 inch format for the Beetle Cabriolet, while fans of wider wheels can opt for the 18 inch "Ravenna" rim in Adamantium Silver.

Individualisation

Style package

Strikingly stylish details.

Sometimes it's the little details that make a big difference in terms of the overall impact. For example, the optional "Color4Me" Style package for the Beetle Cabriolet Design and the Beetle Cabriolet R-Line. The dashpad in the Design equipment line is available exclusively in Platinum Grey, and in Dark Grid in the R-Line equipment line. The centre console, as well as the steering wheel trim in the "Color4Me" Style package, is available in Sandstorm Yellow, Tornado Red, Habanero Orange or Pure White to match your style. And instead of a chrome trim around the door puller and chrome rings around the air vents and the Infotainment system, they are also in your preferred colour - so your favourite colour has a much stronger presence.

Coloured centre console

With the "Design" specification line, in addition to the colour-keyed dash pad, you can opt for the centre console to have the same colour or a different colour. Pure White, Habanero Orange, Blue Silk, Sandstorm Yellow and Tornado Red are available to choose from.

Design package

“Black Style” design package

The "Black Style" design package includes a number of different coordinated features to create a stylish black design statement. They include a black fabric top, black painted exterior mirror housing and black protective side strips. The "Rotor Black" 5-double spoke 17 inch alloy wheels complete the black look.

Comfort package

Relaxation zone.

The optional Comfort package for the Beetle Convertible comes in two versions - with a manual air conditioning system or "Air Care Climatronic" with 2-zone temperature control and allergen filter. The equipment package always includes the cruise control system and lumbar support in the front seats, designed to relieve the leg and back muscles, particularly on longer journeys. The driver and front passenger can also rest comfortably on the front centre armrest, which also features a practical inner stowage space for odds and ends.

Assistance systems

Rear View

The optional "Rear View" reversing camera makes parking with the Beetle Cabriolet easier than ever before. The camera is well protected in its location under the swivelling handle with Volkswagen badge on the boot lid. It is activated and moves into position when reverse gear is engaged. The image from the camera, which is restricted for technical reasons, can then be seen in the display of the Composition Media radio or Discover Media navigation function. Additional static auxiliary lines are displayed, which are extremely useful when estimating dimensions.

Blind Spot Sensor

Attentive helper.

Within the system's limits, the optional Blind Spot Sensor with Rear Traffic Alert can help the driver to prevent collisions with vehicles approaching from behind when changing lanes. When the system detects a vehicle in the blind spot, the Blind Spot Sensor provides a visual warning via an LED in the exterior mirrors.

Rear Traffic Alert can detect traffic crossing behind the vehicle when reversing out of a parking space. The system emits an acoustic warning so that the driver can stop. If the driver still fails to react, then the system can minimise the consequences of a possible accident through braking intervention.

Parking distance warning system

An on-board marshaller.

Tight parking space? Have you still not quite got to grips with the dimensions of the Beetle Cabriolet? That's not a problem, thanks to the optional parking distance warning system: with sensors in the front and rear bumpers, the system warns you of any obstacles, within its limits, via acoustic and sometimes visual signals, depending on the Infotainment system. The closer you get to an obstacle, the faster it beeps, until there is a continuous tone at less than 30 cm. And simply mute the parking distance warning system if you are quite capable of parking your Beetle Cabriolet without any assistance.

Infotainment

Radios

Musical accompaniment for out and about.

MP3/CD drive, SD card slot, AUX-IN media socket, Diversity window aerial and eight loudspeakers: the "Composition Colour" radio ensures that musical enjoyment comes as standard in the Beetle Cabriolet.

The "Composition Media" radio is available as an optional extra. Its 16.5 cm colour touchscreen is easy to use, while a USB interface lets you play your favourite music from other external sources on the loudspeakers. The integral provision for mobile telephone with Bluetooth connection also transmits conversations to the loudspeakers, enabling you to conveniently phone when you're driving.

And if you simply can't receive enough music channels and information on traffic jams and weather conditions, you can opt for the optional digital DAB+ radio.

Navigation

Multimedia on the go.

You always know exactly where you're going in the Beetle Cabriolet with the optional "Discover Media" navigation function - simply enter an address or point of interest on the 16.5 cm touch-sensitive display or via optional voice control, and off you go! The various map screens display your position and route clearly, indicate areas of slow-moving traffic or congestion before you reach them, and the system also suggests alternative routes. To ensure that your journeys are entertaining, the system also includes a radio with CD drive that plays MP3 and WMA files, enabling you to play the music of your choice on the eight loudspeakers. Various other connection options, such as a USB port, two SD slots and a Bluetooth connection, are also available.

Fender® Sound

Sound symbiosis.

Chrome trims around the loudspeaker grille combined with distinctive Fender® logos on the mirror triangles and the subwoofer show that music is not just listened to in the Beetle Cabriolet, but properly celebrated. At the heart of the Fender® system is a 10-channel amplifier with Class A/B output stages and 400-watt output power. The rich sound comes from four treble loudspeakers and high-end fabric domes, four bass loudspeakers - two with a dual voice coil and two with a single voice coil - and a subwoofer with a dual voice coil as a closed bass speaker in the luggage compartment. You can even set the lighting to match the music with the dimmable "Ambient Lighting High" function, with white, blue and red colour options.

Car-Net App-Connect

Full connectivity.

Car-Net App-Connect function makes it possible for you to easily connect your smartphone to the "Composition Media" radio or the "Discover Media" navigation function. In this way, selected apps can be operated on your mobile telephone via the touchscreen. Simplified operation is not the only benefit - a range of applications can process information made available by the vehicle in order to provide you with additional useful and entertaining functions.

Volkswagen provides a total of three interfaces to connect smart phones with a broad range of options: MirrorLink™, Android Auto™ function from Google and Apple CarPlay™. You can check to see which of the listed technologies is compatible with your smartphone at www.volkswagen.de/mobiltelefon. Please note that some apps are not available for each of these three options and the availability of this technology can vary from country to country. You will find further information about Car-Net App-Connect at: http://volkswagen-carnet.com/int/en/start/app-overview.html#tab/open/vw-cat-app-connect.

Car-Net Guide & Inform

Internet on board.

Combined with the optional "Discover Media" navigation function, you can now use the Car-Net Guide & Inform service package completely free of charge for the first 12 months. This allows you to capitalise on the up-to-date information and staggering array of possibilities offered by the worldwide data network - for instance, find out faster when a traffic jam is forming ahead and calculate an alternative route; it even shows the number of free parking spaces in participating car parks¹. Online destination import lets you send destinations to your vehicle's navigation system from your office, home, or while on the move.
