AUX-IN

With the AUX-IN multimedia socket, an external audio source can be connected to the radio (RCD) or the radio navigation system (RNS) through a 3.5 mm jack plug. The channel can be operated using the connected device while the volume is controlled via the radio or radio navigation system. The AUX-IN is available for the RCD 310 and 510 as well as for the RNS 310, 510 and 810. 

MEDIA-IN

The MEDIA-IN multimedia socket is an interface for MP3 players with USB certification, Apple iPods of the fourth generation upwards and external data storage devices. It allows you to play back audio files directly from mobile data storage devices through the car’s infotainment systems. Depending on the model, the MEDIA-IN is located in the centre console or in the glove compartment and is operated through the radio or navigation systems RCD 310, RCD 510, RNS 310, RNS 510 and RNS 810. Various adapters are required if you wish to connect mobile devices.

iPod connector to the MEDIA-IN socket

The iPod adapter allows you to easily connect your iPod to the car’s infotainment system. The device is operated through the radio or radio navigation system or with the multi-function steering wheel. The iPod adapter can be used with iPods of the fourth generation upwards. To play the audio files, all you have to do is connect the iPod with the MEDIA-IN multimedia socket in the centre console or in the glove compartment via an adapter cable. The folders, play lists and song titles are shown on the display of the radio or radio navigation system and can be selected via the touchscreen.

USB interfacefor the MEDIA-IN socket

With the USB interface, you can easily connect storage devices like USB sticks and players to your car’s radio or radio navigation system. The USB interface supports the formats MP3, WAV, WMA and OGG Vorbis. To play audio files, all you have to do is plug in the USB stick or player into the MEDIA-IN multimedia socket in the centre console or glove compartment (larger USB players can be connected with a cable).

CD changer

Depending on the car, the CD changer is located either in the glove compartment, in the armrest between the front seats or under the passenger seat. It is then operated via the radio or radio navigation system. There is space for six CDs in the CD changer.
